Airshow: Inside the Cockpit of an F/A-18

There's a lot of footage out there of aircraft performing maneuvers at airshows but rarely do they include such great footage from the pilots point of view. The following video was taken via a helmet mounted camera at the Thunder Over Michigan Airshow in 2010. Flying the F/A-18C is Captain Michael "STAB" Allen of the Hornet East Coast Demo team. Great flying flying and a hell of a view.

"The most frequent last words I have heard on cockpit voice-recorder tapes are, 'Oh Sh*t,' said with about that much emotion. There's no panic, no scream, it's a sort of resignation: we've done everything we can, I can't think of anything else to do and this is it." - Frank McDermott, McDermott Associates, Cockpit Voice Recorder Specialists
