The New American Airlines

Just saw this on a feed and had to share it. Keep in mind its not often I compliment another airline that is not Southwest but it's about time that American Airlines mixed it up since their last redesign in the 1960s. The amount of money they must be saving on the lack of paint in the previous livery is probably a plus but I'm impressed at what they've done. The image of a huge American flag on their tail is quite inviting and screams the word 'American' much louder than their classic shining metal design ever did. Unfortunately one must wonder how the change in corporate logos and aircraft paint jobs can be afforded when such an airline is in the middle of a bankruptcy. Regardless, I'm pleased to see a change of face as the company is moving toward changing consumer's mindset on them. One can only hope rumors of a U.S. Airways merger is true. Anyway...

I'm posting the video that American Airlines released recently to announce their redesign. Again, I'm truly impressed and I hope that after the bankruptcy restructuring, they come out swinging. It's not fun to watch a classic legacy airline struggle but it appears that they've used this time to rethink about what the average customer sees and sought to implement some positive changes to that. So hats off to you, American Airlines.

  1. I really like the big American colors on the tail. It looks really patriotic.
